CD-BASE 3.0
Compact Disc Data Base
Created by Mike Sanders
Copyright (c) Trik, Inc., 1992. All Rights Reserved.
CD-BASE is a data base which lets you keep track of a compact
disc inventory. CD-BASE allows you to view, edit, print, and send to
an ASCII file, your data base. CD-BASE requires DOS 3.0 or higher and
512K of memory.
Programs Include: CDBASE.EXE - The executable program
CDBASE.DOC - This documentation file
* CDBASE.CDB - The CD data base
* SONGS.CDB - The song titles data base
* CD-IDX1.NTX - Index file 1
* CD-IDX2.NTX - Index file 2
* CD-IDX3.NTX - Index file 3
* CD-IDX4.NTX - Index file 4
* CD-IDX5.NTX - Index file 5
* CD-IDX6.NTX - Index file 6
* CD-IDX7.NTX - Index file 7
* CD-IDX8.NTX - Index file 8
* CD-IDX9.NTX - Index file 9
CDLIST.TXT - This file is created when the
"Send CD List to a File" option
is chosen. This is an ASCII file
of the CD data base inventory.
* These files are created when CD-BASE is executed
for the first time.
NEW IN VER 3.0 - NEW DATA BASE FORMAT!
If you have used a previous version of CD-BASE, when executing version
3.0 for the first time, the program will tell you that your data base is
in the old format. The program will then ask you if you would like to convert
the data base. Select "Y" to convert the data base. CD-BASE 3.0 WILL NOT
RUN UNLESS THE DATA BASE HAS BEEN CONVERTED! This process will take only
a few seconds. When completed, CD-BASE will work just as before. If you
wish to backup your old CD data base file (cd.dbf), you must do it BEFORE
you run the conversion.
NOTE: Once converted, the CD data base file cdbase.cdb should be compatible
with previous versions on CD-BASE, but various inconsistencies in
data output may occur if the cdbase.cdb file is used with a previous
version of CD-BASE.
It is recommended that the cdbase.cdb file should only be modified BY THIS
PROGRAM! Abnormal changes in the cdbase.cdb file will cause incorrect data
and/or loss of data.
If the cdbase.cdb (data base) file is modified by any other means besides
this program (this is NOT encouraged), the index files should be erased!
The program will rebuild the indexes in the correct format next execution.
When entering or editing song titles for the CD's, be sure that
all twenty tracks are entered (press the <Enter> key for all the tracks).
This will ensure that all changes have been saved. If the <Esc> key is
pressed before all tracks have been entered, NO CHANGES WILL BE SAVED.
You will be prompted to save the current changes before you are allowed to
escape. When all twenty tracks have been entered, CD-BASE will display
a "Recorded" box showing that all the data has been saved.
You are encouraged to copy and distribute this program, but you may not
alter/modify/add/delete/copy any single byte/piece/bit of this program
and/or this documentation. You must include this un-modified documentation
with the program.
